Business Administration Department
Business Administration Department recruits excellent faculty members and promotes specialized professional curricula, including Brank Marketing Program, Integrated Marketing Program, Digital Marketing Program, Organization and Human Resource Program and Investment and Financing Planning. Students can choose two programs to in which to develop their professional abilities. The Department also actively establishes professional classrooms to promote students’ competitiveness for employment through the combination of theory and practices. Currently, there are three professional classrooms, Electronic Business Lab, Entrepreneurship and Employment Lab and Logistics Lab.
In order to enhance students’ career counseling, the Department offers career and internship-related courses to counsel students in career planning and earning of relevant certificates. The Department has been awarded Outstanding Promotion Award in Certification from Chinese Enterprise Resource Planning Society for the past 9 years. Furthermore, the Department has been the top among Business Administration Departments nationwide for the number of MOST project grants for the past four years. The Department Student Association Club has been awarded special awards in club assessment for the past 11 years. The Department also ranked first for graduates’ passing rate of the MCU 10 pillars in 2015-16.
The Department not only continues establishing an excellent learning environment and enhancing faculty members’ and students’ professional performance, but also promotes the distinction of the Business Administration Department at MCU compared with other universities. In line with industry trends, the Department develops new programs and relevant courses, such as Entrepreneurship and Employment Focused Course Program. Furthermore, the Department collaborates with universities internationally to promote flexible programs, such as 3+1 program, to provide multiple learning opportunities to students for expanding their world view. In the meantime, the Department links with industrial resources to develop practical courses and increase internship opportunities with industries, and expand the interaction between students, industries and professional practice.
International Business Department emphasizes cultivating talents in international trade and global business expertise, with tracks in international trade and marketing, and international trade and finance. The international trade and marketing track focuses on international business-related professional knowledge to cultivate international sales staff, international marketing program secretaries, international trade talents and international business secretaries. The international trade and finance track focuses on cultivating talents for international finance, foreign currency financing, international investment and cross-border financing. Furthermore, the Department specially emphasizes students’ practical experiences, holding competitions and exhibitions of marketing and finance to cultivat students’ practical operations experience.
In line with the changes and challenges of employment trends, the Department not only adjusts the curriculum content based on the manpower requirements, but also maintains the educational philosophy of cultivating students’ abilities through practice and internships, closely linked with the employment market for graduates.
International Business Department
Finance Department
The mission of the Finance Department is to cultivate holistic talents in finance with professional ethics, emphasizing teamwork and communication, global perspective and critical thinking. The department cultivates FinTech talents and spokespersons with both technological and international views. Virtual Finance Trade Lab was established to assist students in better understanding the relationship between practice and theory through a virtual trading system. Besides core courses, the Department actively counsels students to participate in internships, and assists students in applying professional knowledge in the workplace through pre-job-training, which aids students in understanding the application of professional finance knowledge and practice through multiple teaching methods.
In line with the trend of FinTech and internationalization, the Department has established Internet Finance and Data Analysis Focused Course Program, International Finance and Innovative Management Focused Course Program and Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility (CSR) Focused Course Program to assist students in learning sufficient professional knowledge for facing marketplace challenges. The curriculum of the Department focuses on theory and practice, cultivates students with the knowledge of finance, technology information, database, critical thinking, communication skills and international view. Cultivating students to play important roles in promoting FinTech, innovative business, finance transformation in Taiwan through case study is the aim.
In line with the trends of internationalization and computerization, the curriculum of Accounting Department is designed not only emphasizing the profession of accounting, business and industrial ethics, but also focusing on students’ expression and computer skills. In order to achieve the educational goal of combining theory and practice, bachelor’s program students in the third and fourth years will focus on practical courses. The Department not only invites experts from the industries, but also cooperates with the industries through multiple means, to effectively integrate theory and practice related to accounting and tax. Furthermore, the Department establishes industrial internship courses to arrange students’ internships at accounting firms and general companies, which allow students to become familiar with business operation before they join the workforce full time.
In order to activate its teaching and curriculum design, the Department emphasizes combining international accounting and societal trends, enhancing the content of practice-orientation, cultivating students’ oral and written communication skills, decision-making and analysis abilities, encouraging students to expand their spirit of caring for and serving people. Furthermore, the Department promotes the goal of implementing Industry-academia Collaboration, cultivates students with professional attitude and teamwork spirit, bolsters sound operation of teaching and internship units, encourages faculty members to implement research investigation in industries, and appoints experts from the industries to teach courses. In the future, the Department will actively hold activities for alumni to enhance the interaction and resource exchange among alumni, concentrate alumni strength and cultivate cohesive alumni bonds.
Accounting Department
Risk Management and Insurance Department
Risk Management and Insurance Department focuses on courses related to Insurance Operations Management, Financial Risk Management and Physical Security System to cultivate talents in Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance. The curriculum is designed to strike a balance between theories and practices; to promote students’ sensitivity toward market trends through inviting domestic and overseas experts from industries, government and academic field to deliver speeches; and to grasp international insurance market status and risk management development trends to connect with the employment market.
Risk Management and Insurance Department is the only program in Taiwan to have created Risk Review Journal. The faculty members of the Department actively participate in industry-academia collaborations held by the governmental units and industries, and make important contributions to policies related to insurance and risk management issues.
Risk Management and Insurance Department arranges for students to engage in internships in insurance companies annually, and has introduced insurance underwriting administration systems, such as V-Life system, into the curriculum as one way of combining theory and practice. This further promotes students’ preparation and competitiveness before entering the employment market. The Department also promotes students’ ability in professional English reading and subject communication through English-taught professional courses. Furthermore, the Department expands students’ world view through international exchange via International Experts Seminar and Learning Away From Home Program.
